Lakeshore is an unincorporated trailer park community in Marion, Arkansas, west of Memphis, Tennessee. The community is run by its own people, and is home to illegal drug users, gang members, criminals, registered sex offenders, and murderers. Within the community, there is trash everywhere, along with run down trailers, broken cars, unkempt lawns, and people who call themselves ‘whitetrash.’
I spent five months documenting the lives of these people and their surroundings, hoping to understand their mindset through the exterior of their houses, walkways, lawns, the way they talk, and the way they dress. I want the images to reflect the meaning of life, social structure, class, economy, choice, and random things we do in life that help redefine who we are….
